Commisso and his management team lead Mediacom through a series of acquisitions totaling more than $3.4 billion with the goal of acquiring and reinvigorating cable in our nation’s under-served communities.


Mediacom acquires Sun City, CA system from Cox and systems in Lower Delaware from TCI.


Mediacom expands its footprint to 21 states and doubles in size to over 700,000 customers by purchasing Triax Communications and Zylstra Communications.


Mediacom acquires over 800,000 customers from AT&T Broadband for $2.1 billion, making it the 8th largest cable company in the United States with 1.5 million customers.


Mediacom introduces Video On Demand.


Mediacom launches phone service and introduces the triple play package with its monthly cost savings to customers.


Mediacom named the nation’s top cable operator by CableFAX Magazine.


Mediacom breaks ground for its new 110,000 square foot corporate headquarters in Orange County, New York, with the capacity to expand its local workforce in the coming years.


Mediacom initiates TV everywhere for watching shows, movies, and live streams on laptops, smart phones, and mobile devices anywhere, any time.


Rocco B. Commisso establishes Mediacom in 1995 on the basis of a simple investment proposal- “A Window of Opportunity in the U.S. Cable Industry.”


Mediacom acquires its first cable system from Benchmark Cablevision in Ridgecrest, CA.



Mediacom hits Top 25 MSO list with 360,000 customers in 14 states after U.S. Cable acquisition from Cablevision Systems.


Mediacom Communications completes $380 million initial public offering and is listed on the NASDAQ Stock Market as MCCC.


Mediacom invests more than $3 billion in its network infrastructure, launching new products and services, improving customer experience and closing the digital divide in smaller markets.



Mediacom launches its first high-definition television channels.


Mediacom is the 1st US cable company to launch 105 Mbps Ultra high-speed Internet, the fastest service at the time.


Mediacom launches Mediacom Business, providing TV, internet & phone for small, medium, and enterprise-level businesses.

Mediacom launches the Xtream, combining the fastest in-home Wi-Fi with an intuitive TiVo® DVR to create an easy integrated and seamless user experience.
