Offering new advanced services is only the tip of our commitment to our customers and the communities we serve. Our local systems and employees show their hometown spirit through their sponsorship of charitable organizations, volunteer efforts, and participation in local community events.

Some of our local system projects include:

Free cable service to more than 3,000 government
buildings, libraries and not-for-profit hospitals

Local coverage of high school and college sports, public affairs events and town council meetings

Mediacom Cable in the Classroom is a major system-wide educational program that provides students and teachers in hundreds of schools served by our local systems with free cable TV and high-speed Internet access, along with teacher and student study materials.

Cable In The Classroom is dedicated to promoting positive change in education locally and nationally using cable content and new technologies to improve teaching and learning for children in schools, at home, and in their communities.

Mediacom Local System Educational Programs take place in many of our systems throughout the year including the Emma L. Bowen Foundation diversity work / study program providing minority students with invaluable work experience and allows them to earn a salary to help pay for their higher education. Other examples of Mediacom local programs are:

Our commitment to education includes the company's annual September 11th Memorial Fund for our employees' children. Every year, Mediacom presents 50 scholarships of $1,000 each honoring the heroes of 9/11.

Cable Positive mobilizes the talents, resources, access and influence of the cable and telecommunications industry to raise HIV/AIDS awareness; support HIV/AIDS education, prevention and care; and strive to end stigma by creating a more compassionate climate for people whose lives have been affected by HIV or AIDS. A member of the board of directors, Mediacom is proud that its individual systems, and company employees volunteer for local and national initiatives.

	NIAF - National Italian American Foundation

This is a non-profit organization dedicated to preserving and promoting the heritage and culture of Americans of Italian decent, the nation's fifth largest ethnic group. NIAF provides educational and scholarship opportunities, as well as programs and activities to help our young people; serves as a liaison between the Italian American community and the U.S. Congress, the White House and government agencies, while also promoting the appointment of qualified Italian Americans in the government; protects the character and ensure a realistic portrayal of Italian Americans in the media and the arts; serves as a liaison between Italy and the United States by promoting cultural, educational, economic, and political cooperation; and, serves a clearinghouse of information on Italy and on Americans of Italian descent. Mediacom's ceo and president, Rocco B. Commisso, a naturalized citizen, was awarded with the NIAF Lifetime Achievement Award in 2007 for his significant contributions to the cable industry and his personal achievements and accomplishments in the Italian American community.

Blends a razor-sharp focus on cable telecommunications marketing with a penchant for brining smart people together to make cable better. The result: a tightly knit portfolio of resources, tools, ideas and contacts that advance the cable business. Over the past 12 years, Mediacom has garnered numerous Gold and Silver CTAM Mark Awards for creative excellence. Mediacom staff participates on numerous CTAM committees, panels and as a member of the executive committee.

	NCTC - National Cable Television Cooperative


	This not-for profit, member-operated purchasing organization is committed to reducing the operating costs of it member cable companies and their customers. The organization negotiates and administers master affiliation agreements with cable television programming networks, cable hardware and equipment manufacturers and other service providers on behalf of its member companies. www.cabletvcoop.org

	C-SPAN


	This private, non-profit company created as a public service by the cable industry, provides public access to the political process. C-SPAN receives no government funding, and is solely funded by fees paid by cable and other distributors who carry C-SPAN programming. C-SPAN offers free education programs and community outreach with its C-SPAN bus. www.c-span.org

	WICT – Women in Cable Telecommunications


	Mediacom is a major contributor to this organization and is a member of it s board of directors. WICT partners with cable and telecommunications industry leaders like Mediacom to provide leadership programs and services, and helps to create and foster professional advancement opportunities for women. www.wict.org

	Walter Kaitz Foundation


	For over 25 years, this organization has advanced the contributions of ethnic minorities and women in the cable telecommunications industry, by advocating for diversity and providing resources for the organization’s members and the industry at large. www.walterkaitz.org

	NCTA – National Cable & Telecommunications Association

The NCTA is the principal trade association of the cable television industry in the United States. NCTA’s provides a strong national presence for the cable industry in government affairs by providing a single, unified voice on issues affecting the cable and telecommunications industry. In 2009, Mediacom ceo and president, Rocco B. Commisso was awarded the NCTA’s Vanguard Award for leadership for his many contributions to the cable industry.

	Emma L. Bowen Foundation

Deeply committed to diversity Mediacom proudly supports the Emma Bowen Foundation, which was created to prepare minority youth for careers in the media industry. During the five-year program, students have an opportunity to learn many aspects of corporate operations and develop company-specific skills. As a member, Mediacom participates by training and mentoring students with the option of fulltime employment upon completion of their college degrees.
